Expungement Intake Clinics
How it Works
PLSE does not take appointments or walk-ins for expungement services. We accept new clients at expungement intake clinics. At the clinic, a PLSE staff member does a presentation on how to clear a criminal record, followed by every attendee discussing with a volunteer one-on-one their specific circumstances. Other important information:
- All of our clinics and services are free if you meet our income guidelines
- You do not need to register in advance
- All you need to bring is a valid photo ID and a little patience
- PLSE is only able to help with adult expungement cases in Philadelphia
- All participants are screened for expungements, record sealing, and pardon assistance.
You can see all upcoming expungement clinics that are open to the public by scrolling down to our calendar and finding events called “Expungement.”
Philadelphia Lawyers for Social Equity (PLSE) holds introductory pardon workshops to provide information on Pennsylvania’s pardon process. Participants will be introduced to the pardon application and given an overview of the full process. We will review eligibility and criteria for a strong application along with tips on how to navigate each step.
If a pardon is not right for you at this time, we will also review other methods of clearing your criminal record and provide tips on how to move forward with your life in the meantime. Participants will also learn about creation, dissemination and destruction of criminal records in general and their rights when it comes to the use of their criminal records. There will be time for a Q&A at the end. You can see upcoming workshops by scrolling down to our calendar and finding the events called “Pardon Workshops.”

OIC of America, Inc., is celebrating reentry month and one year of service to the community via their SOAR program. Their reentry program, SOAR (Skills and Opportunities for Achievement & Responsibility), serves young adults between the ages of 18-24 who have been involved in the juvenile or adult justice system to make a successful transition back to their communities. Reentering society can be very tough for someone once incarcerated and OIC of America in partnership with the Philadelphia OIC wants to help. OIC of America is hosting a Community Job/Resource Fair to bring more than 20 organizations who believe in second chances to people who need one. The event will include employers, community service organizations, justice partners, and more. The Philadelphia Lawyers for Social Equity will be there all afternoon providing information on expungement eligibility and upcoming clinics to begin the expungement process.
Beyond Bars: Conquering the Stigma of Criminal Records
Philadelphia Lawyers for Social Equity (PLSE) will host an event to underscore the resilience of the roughly one third of Philadelphians directly impacted by criminal records. The event will include an opening speaker, Louis Suavé Gonzales, resource tables, a pop-up art exhibit, and a panel discussion highlighting individuals who refuse to be denied by criminal history information. All are invited to learn about the challenges faced by those impacted by criminal history information from the experts — those with lived experience. More information to come.
